Tragedy invokes questions of personal responsibility

Since people are actively passing on this way of thinking to the next generation do future Americans stand a chance of living in a country that ISN'T a nanny state? |
| ldfairf Monday, August 22, 2011: 8:36 am More from ldfairf | I was beginning to think I was the only one that felt that way. With all the technology that we carry with us on a daily basis I know that SEVERAL people were on their phones watching the weather coming in. And were the majority if not all from Indiana? Do they not know what the weather does around here? My family didn't waste any time when the announcment was made and they are safe. My sympathy to those that were injured but it is time to be responsible for our own actions. Lawsuits are creating more problems than they are curing. All the money in the world will not change what happened. |

| Bluecollar Saturday, August 27, 2011: 8:27 am More from Bluecollar | When they made that announcement, THAT was what I needed to push me the last "inch" to start heading for cover. I watched people on their phones with the radar that looked like "kermit the frog in a blender" and I told my wife "Let's take cover. We're gonna get soaked". That cloud was quite Ominous looking in itself. As someone else said, it's the society we live in to wanna blame someone. I'm not built that way. |
