I know Dr. Polar personally and he is a great doctor and great employee at I.U. Morgan Hospital. He is very friendly and truely cares about his patients. Thanks to some of the staff that has left the hospital and went to St. Francis for dragging our Doctors through the mudd. These comments about a doctor, beyond the ability of the accused to defend himself, are inappropriate and do not belong in the paper
Other than fact that, like I said, a newspaper blog (or a letter to the editor), is not the appropriate forum in which a person should defend himself. The appropriate forum is called a court of law.

Also, a politician explaining his actions in the paper is not the same as a doctor defending an accusation of alleged malpractice in the paper. Any comment the individual makes could be used in any subsequent legal action until the matter is settled.

I'm also quite sure the paper would be more than happy to print a letter to the editor from Dr. Polar in a future issue where he can explain his inability to pass the board exams among other things.
