I was truly embarrassed by our community and fans throughout most of the season with their rude and vulgar treatment of our coaching staff. Following the events of this game I was absolutely disgusted with people’s foul mouths towards our coaches with young kids present! What message are we trying to convey to our kids? These people should be ashamed of themselves! The coaching staff was present the entire game, but it is a shame that these coaches had to deal with such a bad environment.

I do agree with migs82 comments about our fans HOWEVER one of the coachs (Mr. Gatts) did leave the game as soon as the clock ran out. He did not shake a single player hand, was not present for the team huddle or prayer after the game. He got in his vehicle and left! ! ! This is not the first time this has happend. He has walked out on our kids numerous times this year, after games, practices and not participating in team dinners, prayers or functions. It is this total lack of respect to our kids that caused so much turmoil through out the season. Again I do not agree with how verbal the fans got at games but I do understand their frustration. No adult would have put up with what our kids did this season. To the MHS football players we love you, respect you and think you are a great group of young men.

Well what upset me more than anything, is that the coaches were too busy sulking over the lose, and didn't shake any seniors hands. What message does that convey to our kids? Be an adult and teach the boys some values. Won't be sad to see them go. There was never any discipline under this coach and I will be happy to see him leave, even though it's too late for my son!

Times Reporter needs to correct the statement above. Coach Hutchins did NOT leave the game with time on the clock. He stayed, spoke to the players and said the prayer with the players! He did then return to the locker room but who wouldn't in that position with the way some of the parents were acting!! I have been around High School football for several years and Coach Gatts is the most disrespectful coach I have ever witnessed!!! He left IMMEDIATELY, did not shake one players hand. Went directly to his car and left! And this was NOT the first time he had done this. He does not participate in the team dinners, has walked out on other games/practices, and can't even dress in the "coach's uniform" like the other coaches - what a pitiful sample of team values. I hope someone in the administration oversaw the money that was paid directly to Coach Gatts for those so called player lockers. Mooresville admin please do something positive for our players - GET RID OF COACH GATTS!!! Also, Mooresville Times, please take the resonsibility and correct the false statement about Coach Hutchins. Not a fan of his coaching but at least let's state the truth!

I have been embarrassed the last two seasons and in particular this year for the rude, abusive, and vulgar treatment of our sons. I do not defend Mr. Hutchins but he did stay for the end of the game. He told the players to turn in their equipment on Monday then walked off the field. Mr. Gatts left without saying a word but it was not the first time he walked out on our boys. Four coaches stayed on the field and displayed the leadership our sons need to emulate. When you talk about fan conduct let me ask "if you had a son sweating, bleeding, crying and fighting for a lost cause would you feel differently? If your son had been bullied and belittled constantly even during warm-ups and on the sidelines of a game would you feel differently? What if he were never acknowledged for something good but only his mistakes? If you had to watch as his team went from conference champs to laughing stocks in only two years all the time watching your son’s college football prospects disappear … how would you react?" This in not just about Friday nights these young men live this program they put their hopes, dreams, summers, afternoons, early mornings, and futures into a program that left them standing out on that field last Friday night. They deserve better than that.
No adult would have put up with what our kids did this season. To the MHS football players we love you, respect you and WE KNOW you are a great group of young men.

I teach my son to follow thru with everything that he pursues, win or loose. The display of the coaches Friday after the game was inexcusable. Whether I agree with the coaching or not is not whats important, I feel unless I can step up and do better, my negitive comments are better left unsaid, however I do expect the coaches and adult role models to display a certain amount of maturity, which was not shown Friday. The coaches on a personl level have been more then fair to my son and on a personal level I have no complaint. I realize how difficult a new coach would have taking over from a successful and in control coach after several years, so I don't feel like bashing him would serve a purpose. I do think the coaches should have shown more discipiline and integrity throughout the season and especially Friday.

I find it so typical of people to always put the blame on the coaches, when seasons start going down hill. The fact of the matter is these boys are inexperienced, un athletic, and lazy! It shows every Friday night on the field when they can't even complete a pass or tackle someone. when you don't put the effort in the weight room and don't believe in your new coach , you are bound to fail. all the parents in this community do is bash the football program and the coaches . how do you expect to be successful when you don't support your new coach? coach hutchins was never given a chance to do his job from the first day he started. he worked with a disrespectful belittling coaching staff his first year that the administration wanted coaching alongside him. this year all the coaching staff has dealt with is parents and fans who don't believe in what they do, and get the players to go along with their beliefs.you are to blame for discouraging the players and causing them not to believe in a system that would have worked. you talk about discipline, what is discipline to you? yelling screaming and belittling players like they have in the past. last time I checked this was high school football not the united states military. discipline starts at home but apparently none of the parents want to take on that responsibility, they would rather have that responsibility be on their kids football coach. That didn't seem to be in issue when coach hutchins was at monrovia and took them to the state championship in 3 years! the problem here is no one wants to work hard for anything, they expect everything to be handed to them. you will never be successful until you let the coaches coach , support them and our boys.

I finally have to speak up. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, but coming from Monrovia I’ve not got to witness what all is happening there in Mooresville with your football team and will throw my two cents in since we’ve got to experience the destruction of Coach Hutchins . Coach Hutchins did very little in the run to the state championship when at Monrovia. He rode on the coat tails of a very talented, unique group of athletes; and as I sat there in the stands watching that game I actually believe his “coaching” kept the team from winning the game. In my opinion, the unfortunate part of this was a super nice group of Monrovia boys got screwed out of their state championship AND you all in Mooresville got stuck with Hutchins. Even coming off of a trip to Lucas Oil, I would have shouted it from the rooftops, I was THRILLED to see Hutchins go! And I wasn’t alone in thinking this.

Ask the other Mooresville coaches and the players if they’ve benefitted from Hutchins comine to Mooresville. Better yet, ask they have benefitted AT ALL from the addition of the Harpolds to the coaching staff? Even better idea ask some of the Monrovia players that played for Hutchins and what life was like pre-Harpolds and then post-Harpolds. I was told that Harpold Sr is no longer allowed to be a head coach in the state of Indiana due to violations he made during his previous stents as a head coach, particularly allowing an academically ineligible player to be his Mr. Football nominee for the state and be on the team to continue playing. How can you respect a man that has the type of character he does? How do you ask a bunch of boys to respect that. He cheated! And better yet how do you respect a man that upon introduction has to tell you he is Dick Harpold and he is a Indiana Hall of fame coach? I don’t think I’ve EVER heard those words come from other Hall of Fame coaches I know. So how do you respect a head coach that brings that kind of influence into the locker room and onto the field?

So to dzone 87, LOTS of people had problems and issues with Coach Hutchins at Monrovia and were thrilled and very thankful to see him go! Just so sorry you all had to inherit this “coach.” All I’m asking is who is the common denominator here when it comes to these two football programs?
