Phil has been a good mayor in these hard economic times. His thoughts have been creative in obtaining funding increases. He has Martinsville's best interest at heart. We need to own up to the fact that a water rate increase in unavoidable as none of us wants to see the department sold or leased out. Annexation will be advantageous for the City as will the TIF districts. Those I know who work for the betterment of our city support Mayor Deckard.

As citizens we should get behind our Park Board and support them in a fundraising drive to purchase new playground equipment. The condition of it is embarassing and a negative impact of the City Park. If every household would submit a minimum of $5 what a difference it would make.

If the Sewer Utility has a surplus of money that they can loan the water utility. Then why do we not lower the sewer rate and to offset an increase in the water rate? Just sayin........
