Proactive facelifts and better ammentities like this are heavily needed in our city.

Very impressed by the drawings, and I hope we have the people in place to jump over the hurdles, as eluded by Mr. Sump.

Good Luck, and you have plenty rooting for your successes.

A great corporate neighbor we're lucky to have in Martinsville.

I don't know why the REMC would consider asking fo tax abatements to offset costs of making their business more efficient. There are no new jobs in this project.

Nobody,

There are many things that you and I don't agree upon, but in this case I'm going to say: good job. What you are doing is exactly what I wanted to inspire for our town.

How about because they kept their operation in Martinsville? Which, in turn, kept jobs in Martinsville. I'm sure they could have relocated into Brown, Owen or Monroe county to accomplish their goal of growth, but they chose to stay local. I, for one, appreciate that and am just as satisfied with keeping jobs that could be lost as I am with adding new ones. I believe REMC has proven themselves to be great corporate citizens of Martinsville. I don't see the harm in that attitude being rewarded.

Don't be so hard on yourself Danny, you have in fact inspired this town. Inspired the whole town (all but 60) not to vote for you!

Spanky, I suppose you would be ok if all the businesses in Morgan County that didn't move out of the county got a tax abatement? Think about it. And I don't remember anyone from the REMC talking about this move as a "growth" initiative.

No, we should save tax abatements for companies that locate here or grow, adding jobs. The whole idea about a tax abatement is a carrot for a company to add something to the community, not just keep doing more efficiently what they are doing already.
