Why can't anyone tell us if Green Towhship is on lockdown! I called the MSD and was told they do not know!

All schools are on Level One Lockdown. This means that people are not permitted to leave the buildings or enter.

There is no reason for the schools to be on lockdown. This incident is happening out on Egbert road and does not appear to be associated with the schools or school activity. If there are no threats against the schools, why lock them down? This is probably an over reaction and unnecessary.

I'm sure with everything that has happened in the last year in Martinsville it is better to be safe than sorry. The kids in the school are probably not even aware of anything. People just can't leave or enter. The teachers will probably just have to eat in the cafeteria today like the students! Can't make everyone happy!

Putting the schools on lockdown does seem like a silly thing....untill you think about it. Level 1 lockdown means that everyone has to stay in the school building and the rest of the school day is not disrupted. Now, if most (if not all) law enforcement is in one part of the county and everyone in the state knows that, don't you think it is a good idea to make sure our children are safe? I work in Plainfield at one of the 3 prisons and if there is an emergency situation in Michigan City, we are on lock down also. There are crazy people out there!

Yup! The sky is falling everywhere. Let's all panic and act like fools. It's even sillier when you do think about it.

Keep clicking that negative button...

Sorry to disappoint you Mr. Schoolcraft but the -4 has nothing to do with me. All that I was saying is that it is better to be safe than sorry. Response times from any of our law enforcement or emergency personnell are not going to be very good. All attention is on one location. I am sorry that you think that all of this is silly. So, let's say that a high school student needs to leave and go to an appointment and gets in a wreck on the way, but due to this emergency going on there is no one to respond and help in a timely manner. I would rather my children stay in school untill the county is fully staffed by law enforcement. The lockdown isn't because of what is going on or where it is, it is about keeping the rest of the county safe if other situations occur.

Ron, stop showing your ignorance! Looks like there are more than a couple hitting the "negative" button over your ridiculous statement.

I agree with Mr Schoolcraft. This is a late attempt for MSDM to try to redeem themselves after the Chance Jackson shooting. But it is crazy. Is Waverly Elementary on lockdown?? They are just as close as some of the Martinsville schools are.
