Alcohol, prescription drugs,& pot are a huge problem in Martinsville. But you are overlooking one of the worst. That is "spice" the legal drug being sold over the counter in Martinsville. Young adults are buying it for around $35 for a very small package.Smoking this and Mixing with other drugs or alone.Stealing and pawning to get the money. It is so addictive. It does not show in drug test so no way to find out unless you notice the oder or find the packages about the size of sugar. In other towns several youth have died with the use. Some here in town are in rehab or have been and will have to return for treatment. This is labeled not for use and names keep changing but it is all the same. One is K-2 but there are many others. If you have a teen or young adult living at home or near you watch for rage, loss of weight, highs and lows and things disappearing from your home or unsual spending of money.

Here's an idea, how about providing something for the kids to do in this town?? There is absolutely zero city/county provided "rec" areas for teens here. No skate/bmx parks, no sports complex (sorry, the rundown YMCA doesn't qualify as a "sports complex") no dance club, no go kart track/arcades. This town is stuck in the dark ages when it comes to taking care of its youth, and then we wonder why all the kids do is drink and do drugs and get in trouble. Until the powers that be realize providing kids with quality, engaging facilities that allow them to work off the built-up pressure and stress that teens deal with everyday, don't be surprised to see headlines like this.
