the AP needs some cultural competence training. but if the kid was wearing it with the colts jersey--well that just clashes!

He did respect the school policy and changed. Yes it did clash with the colts jersey. I know he is proud and probably decided to show off his outfit. Just not appropriate clothes for school but will be great for him to present a program on the Irish and bagpipes. I do not know him and not from Mooresville.

This was NOT the way he was dressed to attend the Scottish Symphony. He was actually wearing a tuxedo shirt and vest (orchestra outfit)and was not wearing the headwear. He was not wearing the outfit to show off... he was wearing it to attend the Scottish Symphony with his orchestra class.

I cannot see what could be wrong with wearing a kilt.Sure some kids will make fun of it but they will also make fun of the wrong style of jeans.

I could really go there with ethnicity issues. When I went to Mooresville-my family was invited to speak to history classes on Native American culture. Almost always at the beginning of the school year or in November..lol. How ironic is that? The first few weeks of school covers a wee bit of Native history, while the rest of the year it is about everything else. Maybe this assistant principal has no business being such? I think some of the clothes kids wear today are enough to send them home. The kilt covers more than most skirts, and it is not form-fitting. just sayin.
