Test'em. We have to get tested to get a job. Why should they be any different.

“This is one of the most ill thought out pieces of legislation I have ever run across,” Crawford said. “I’m at a loss to understand.”

I agree totally. So, the State government is going to adminster this testing program? I'll wager that the cost of administering this program will exceed the actual welfare benefit.

i work and get tanf to aid in caring for my grandchildren this is the only help i can get because i choose to work instead of holding my hand out for handouts daycare alone takes half my check so i think they should test to put a stop to those who abuse the system meant to help honest people

If I have to pass a whiz quiz to work for the money the government takes from me to give to welfare recipients then at the very least the recipients should have to pass the same test to get the money.

“In general I think we agree that we want to maintain families as integral units whenever possible,” DeLaney said. “This bill would leave the mother the choice of no income for her child or give up the child. I believe that is beyond harsh.”

So, in other words Mr. Delaney, Reward the parent for being a drug user with our tax dollars, let the child grow up in a drug using household, so that child can become another statistic in the system. Where does the cycle end? What tools do you provide the parent to break that cycle? If big government is so willing to shell out my tax dollars to someone that can't pass a drug test, what is the plan to get that parent on track and recoup those welfare dollars in order to gain an active and upstanding citizen in this country? Are the tax payers that go to their job every day who are forced to do random drug tests if they want to keep their job, the only ones that are held accountable for our actions? Where is the ACCOUNTABILITY!!! And we wonder why our country is in the shape it is. That comment alone sums it up for me! I hope your voters read your comment and act accordingly in the polls!

Question. If the taxpayer can't pass a drug test can they stop paying taxes?

ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!!!

A Hoosier,

Answer:
If an individual can amass funds enough to purchase chemicals for a high...then they should pay taxes or more taxes/receive less entitlements whichever the case calls for.

The state/feds tends to claim that they don't have enough case workers to look in on individuals abusing the system i.e. Welfare, disability, medicare, medicaid, etc... If they would hire more they would have to pay more employees, but the cost would be vastly offset by the money it would save from fraud!

It irks me when I am in line at any store, see someone use food stamps, then their next transaction consists of a $50 bill for a carton of cigarettes.

As long as it's legit...I have no problems with it.

Sunny, you think your decisions so divine you should make decisions for everyone? Who smokes, who eats sugar based on their economic status. You irk me.

It irks me when welfare recipients use my tax money to pay for their food and housing then get to use their own money to buy cell phones, cigarettes and have their nails done.
