| Tomcatt68 Monday, February 13, 2012: 2:45 pm More from Tomcatt68 | The bald eagle will continue to be protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act even though it has been delisted under the Endangered Species Act. This law, originally passed in 1940, provides for the protection of the bald eagle and the golden eagle (as amended in 1962) by prohibiting the take, possession, sale, purchase, barter, offer to sell, purchase or barter, transport, export or import, of any bald or golden eagle, alive or dead, including any part, nest, or egg, unless allowed by permit Bald Eagle sitting in tree (16 U.S.C. 668(a); 50 CFR 22). "Take" includes pursue, shoot, shoot at, poison, wound, kill, capture, trap, collect, molest or disturb (16 U.S.C. 668c; 50 CFR 22.3). The 1972 amendments increased civil penalties for violating provisions of the Act to a maximum fine of $5,000 or one year imprisonment with $10,000 or not more than two years in prison for a second conviction. Felony convictions carry a maximum fine of $250,000 or two years of imprisonment. The fine doubles for an organization. Rewards are provided for information leading to arrest and conviction for violation of the Act. -US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICES. |

| BackwardJr Monday, February 13, 2012: 9:22 pm More from BackwardJr | The parents of this little $#%@&*^ should be very ashamed of themselves.Take his little harmless B.B. gun you bought him for Christmas and beat him over the head with it !! Whats next a Human-Being ?? |
| 1Uuse2No Monday, February 13, 2012: 9:28 pm More from 1Uuse2No | Hey Backward... No, They need to preserve the body of the eagle, wait until they find him... Then beat him senseless with the bird... Sorta like you have to do with a dog that is a chicken killer. |
| 1Uuse2No Monday, February 13, 2012: 9:41 pm More from 1Uuse2No | Realinsight... I dont know if I would go that far to say that?... But, it is suspicious that they disappear as soon as its dead. Yet, I think it is an Americans privilege to go out and admire these birds, especially an American Family. I think it shows a sense of admiration and patriotism. |
| Uncle Joe Monday, February 13, 2012: 10:20 pm More from Uncle Joe | I am saddened by this unfortunate event. But the same day this eagle was killed, 3500 babies were murdered in the USA (some supported by your tax dollars) and no one seems to care. PRIORITIES people!! |
| Jane Q Citizen Monday, February 13, 2012: 11:31 pm More from Jane Q Citizen | Uncle joe - my sentiments exactly. It's notclear how the writer knows the eagle was killed. How do you know the bird is dead? Just curious |
| BackwardJr Tuesday, February 14, 2012: 5:46 pm More from BackwardJr | JaneQCitizen.. Maybe he just left, to go fishing in an unpolluted lake...lol Or, maybe he died from eating the polluted fish in Patton Lake! Or maybe he drank the water.. Have you been to Patton Lake recently??...What a muck hole!.. |
