Woody, Heacock, and Alkire (to me) are more pathetic than Furniss! This went on right under their noses! They were to worried about taking the cheer section's bells during Football Season! They should have been looking around the corner at their own staff!

Its always endlessly comical when you see our Martinsville Public figures trying to deny Martinsville's stigmas, publicly. I often ask myself, Does this official, be him/her officer, prosecutor, judge or what have you, think for one second that people in the surrounding counties and States, not watch the news? or read the news? With the rise in social media, its not only possible, but quite common we see an official on TV speaking about his private or classified documents being stolen and exposed for all to read, and go over, and analyze. Everyday people, Voters, the public, you know " We the People" Our officials must have real guts to spew a line of Bull, as free as if they were still living in the 80's, as if they have not noticed the change enveloping them, as they speak. Maybe they have considered this, and really feel there are none of us in the community who pose a real social media threat, but maybe, just maybe, they miscalculated. Either way, as lush as the media environment is today, it seems more wise to choose their words much more carefully.

@ BTDEL64... Mooresville is doing so much better because they ousted the slimeballs that were in the schoolboard. When Martinsville does the same, MSD can start the recovery. Your post gets a "+" from me!

So true. But you have to also keep in mind that three awesome and caring men stepped up to run for those positions and then followed through on their campaign promises to make it a better school system once elected. Are there people in Martinsville willing to do this? The second part of the equation is voters. Are people going to get registered to vote and then turn up at the polls on election day to support the candidates and effect the change everyone on this blog is hollering for?

I will be there at the school board meeting tomorrow and I hope that everyone who has posted comments on these blogs will be also. Time to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Let's show them we mean business and we're not going to quietly go away.

Let's hope a neutral party is brought in to investigate this. The fact that they heard rumors and just couldn't seem to track them down is appalling. Maybe it's time to get the good ole boys out of MHS. Heaven forbid they actually do their jobs with an unbiased attitude.

I talked to my 30 year old daughter, who graduated from Martinsville, and it was common knowledge that this pedophile was messing with the teenage girls at that time, 12 plus years ago. Why have the officials looked the other way?
Our youngest daughter has talked about how there were ongoing rumors of this behavior going on since she entered high school 3 years ago. While it may have been rumored in the past, I hope that if any other girl was involved with him, that they will step forward. This man is a pedophile, even if the girl was 16 and able to legally enter into a sexual relationship with him. The fact of the matter is this man, if you want to call him that, was in a position of leadership and trust and abused this privilege for his benefit. He should not have the opportunity to retire, but be fired. If he is allowed to retire, the appearance is "getting away with it". This type of person will strike again if given the opportunity. Forget the fact that he may have been a good coach. A line has been crossed, and the trust has been broken. IF THE SCHOOL BOARD DOES VOTE TO ALLOW HIS RETIREMENT YOU CAN BET WE WILL BE AMONG THE FIRST IN LINE AT THE POLLS TO VOTE THEM OUT!

12 years ago? Try over 25 years. Try going back to his previous employer around the lafayette area and ask them why he left that post.
