And that is why you don't have "secret ballot" votes in government meetings!!

Some of you people really need to get a life if complaining about such insignificant issues gets you through your day.

If he had more time and wasn’t concerned with other issues, Deckard said he would work to see the law changed and allow council members to cast secret ballots a meetings.

“I think it violates the rights of our members,” Deckard said.- What about the rights of the voters who elected those members? Don't they have a right to make sure their voices are heard Mr. Mayor?

Rod you are correct! I dont think it was computers though. I believe it was pay per view porn! Aka more expensive stuff. But the people of Martinsville forget these things and vote in the crazies over and over. I wonder which eye he was watching with??

I heard the mayor talking today on the radio about having a right to privacy when casting votes at the polls, and how that should be extended to the city council members...voting as a private citizen is a completely different issue than a public offical casting votes as a representative of the people. People have a right to know who and what their elected representitives are voting for.

Forthepeople, Again a quote is taken out of context, he was talking about the vote only for president of council NOT all votes on other issues. PLEASE attend these meetings and get the facts straight. The Mayor ALWAYS asks for comments from the public so come let your voice be heard!

EXACTLY!

Reason being is that if I elected someone into a position, I want to know what they are doing with that position, and whether or not that person really needs to be re-elected.

This isn't a position of "Vote Me In and "Just Trust Me! I won't steer you wrong!""
