| nursetoo Wednesday, March 21, 2012: 10:18 am More from nursetoo | I thought that there was already a fire department in this area... Washington township? Why would Martinsville want to do this? Dont want to be outgrown by Mooresville? |
| Parent Wednesday, March 21, 2012: 10:21 am More from Parent | Think that is exactly it...dont want Mooresville to get bigger than Martinsville! Used to everyone would drive to Martinsville for items; now everyone drives to Mooresville as there is NOTHING IN MARTINSVILLE...this one horse town will never have anything! |
| To The Point Thursday, March 22, 2012: 7:28 am More from To The Point | To: Parent Your comment...."this one hourse town will never have anything...." I can only comment that with "riders" such as yourself, with such negative comments...is there any wonder it's such a struggle to see things accomplished for the betterment of this community!? Time to get on the new, more aggressive horse I would say! Just saying.... |

Better to fix the mess at the water dept. before going off and spending money on annexation I say. |
| To The Point Thursday, March 22, 2012: 7:43 am More from To The Point | To: Danny Stewart You mentioned the "mess" at the Water Dept. Do you have some inside information that we do not have? Can you explain more detail of what the "mess" is, so we can ask some questions? I, for one, appreciate some of the changes they have made, i.e., drive-up window, drop-off shoot, etc. Just sayin'.... |
| Danny Stewart Thursday, March 22, 2012: 8:09 am More from Danny Stewart | To the point, I'm refering to the debt the water company has aquired over the last two administrations. It makes no sense in spending. Money for expansion when that mess isn't yet resolved. |
| Parent Thursday, March 22, 2012: 8:12 am More from Parent | Again i say this one horse town will never amount to anything..And annexation is going to fix this???dont think so..yes may be negative comment but its true |
| Danny Stewart Thursday, March 22, 2012: 8:12 am More from Danny Stewart | The same could be said for wanting to spend more than 1 million on the Rogers block building. |
| To The Point Thursday, March 22, 2012: 12:06 pm More from To The Point | To: Danny Stewart Upon checking with Clerk Treasurer's Office, I find the monies used for the Annexation is of different funds than the Water Department, and can not be intermingled, to my undersanding. Also, the monies borrowed to continue operatation of the Water Utility are being paid back, funds permitting, although it is a slow process. Annexation monies are utilized by using the Redevelopment Commission's authority to do so and, they make the provisions to generate the funds. |
| To The Point Thursday, March 22, 2012: 12:11 pm More from To The Point | To: The Parent If you're so convinced this "one Horse" town will never amount to anything....have you submitted any worthwhile ideas that might help? Have you made any attempts to discuss the situation with powers that be and see where or how you could help change things? If not, then good luck in finding the perfect city where everyone is happy with status-quo. I'm sure your searching. Just sayin'....... |
| Parent Thursday, March 22, 2012: 12:50 pm More from Parent | yes.....ive submitted ideas to councilmen and former ones and its like in one ear and out the you know where..again ONE HORSE TOWN..look around and see all the communities growing by move ins-not having to annex a fourth of the county to make "us bigger"there are no decent places to build homes;and drive thru the city and look at the lack of businesses that are here-the ones who are here never have what a person needs. |
