The buffoon currently in the white house has a Harvard degree and look at the mess he is making! I haven't seen anyone try to undo the Democratic process so please give examples ' |

Thank you. I guess there's a reason he's called rat. People still have hard feelings about the school project? That was a long time ago. Get over it! |

I didn't say or even imply that. |
| Lassiter Saturday, April 28, 2012: 1:38 pm More from Lassiter | You said some don't want the people to have a say so you did imply that. Read your post |

So what if school board is a non partisan position? The point is that Mr. Goodwin was a precinct committeeman and both he and Mr. Quyle are elected officials and they supported a democrat for in that race over a fellow GOP precinct committeeman. You sir conveniently left out the truth that the anti Mooresville school project crowd also backed the other two new school board members. |
| Ratcatcher Saturday, April 28, 2012: 6:49 pm More from Ratcatcher | Bald, I believe our new school board has done a fine job getting rid of portable classrooms and upgrading the facilities in these tough economic times. Why don't you ask the current superintendent what he thinks would've happened if the $200 million building project had've went through. Mr. Goodwin's candidate was known to donate thousands of dollars to Democrat political committees and Julia Carson's re-election campaign. I'm sure spending money that wasn't hers would've been an easy decision for her to make. Our current school board member, high school education and all, knows how to pinch a penny and that of the average taxpayer because he is like most of us and has had to. Real world people need to be on boards like this not rich folks who want fancy new homes and school buildings to flaunt. |
| BaldEagle Saturday, April 28, 2012: 8:51 pm More from BaldEagle | Rat, you said.... "You sir conveniently left out the truth that the anti Mooresville school project crowd also backed the other two new school board members." Your comment was about who Mr. Goodwin backed and so was mine. I don't have a problem with the current board. I'm not saying I supported the school project. My comments are based on what you and others have been saying about some candidates who believed they were doing what is in the best interest of the citizens of their district. If you agree with the author of "The Whole Truth" letter to the editor then you agree, as he said, "Elected officials should be in office to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on the good of all citizens." Mr. Goodwin and Mr. Quyle supported who they thought was the best candidate for the position of school board member. Even though the position is nonpartisan they did risk some flak from their party if the candidate they supported had some democrat ties. I have no idea whether they knew it or not at the time. There are no party ties to the positions. Sure, a person would bring their own personal bias to the position. However, Goodwin and Quyle were supporting who they believed to be the best school board member and not what served their best interest. I assumed that's what you support if you agree with Mr. Wagoner. But, you sir, bash a guy because he didn't serve his own political interest first. How ironic. I'm not interested in nitpicking. If you don't get the point, just move on. I would guess many others get it. |
| BaldEagle Saturday, April 28, 2012: 8:56 pm More from BaldEagle | Rat, you said..."Real world people need to be on boards like this not rich folks ......" Do you feel this way about the state senate as well? |
| Ratcatcher Saturday, April 28, 2012: 9:18 pm More from Ratcatcher | The candidate who lost the race for school board campaigned on the promise of reintroducing the building plans after the required 1 year waiting period thus forcing the community into another ugly referendum process when the vote wasn't even close the first time. I am certain both Mr. Goodwin and Mr. Quyle knew this. They should not be calling themselves fiscal conservatives when their goal was to significantly raise property taxes to build something we didn't need and couldn't afford. That's talking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time. I don't think that is good decision making on their part. Forcing even more people into home foreclosure due to increased property taxes doesn't seem like a good thing for their constituents either. That is something democrats do -not Republicans...or so-called Republicans. |
| BaldEagle Saturday, April 28, 2012: 10:13 pm More from BaldEagle | I guess you don't get it. They weren't voting to raise taxes. It had to be left to the voters to decide that. Which you already stated, the referendum lost by good margin. Carry on. |
| Lassiter Sunday, April 29, 2012: 12:38 am More from Lassiter | Chromedome and Rats you both need to let old news go. it was what it was. At issue here is the credibility of a candidate for State Senator. Personally I do not care who he may or may not have supported. My concern is how he, or other candidates will respond to the onslaught of Lobby money and influence to persuade their votes. |
| Danny Stewart Sunday, April 29, 2012: 4:46 am More from Danny Stewart | First off, I have yet to see any elected position that is nonpartisan. Second, I agree with Lassiter, but I would also add that only one of these two has a good understanding of being a common working man. The other has been lucky enough to live a charmed life. Nothing wrong with that. it j ust tends to leave a gap. Also they are both married to the good 'ole boy club. The difference there is that one doesn't know anything but that. So with those things and others in mind, my vote will go to Goodwin. |
