Police chief: Operation Pull Over requires citation, no option for warnings
read more recent story comments Reader comments| SickoftheSame Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 11:06 am More from SickoftheSame | I commend Chief Davis for supporting his officer. I also know that warnings are not acceptable when it comes to seatbelt or child restraint violations. It is sad that this had to happen, but maybe the answer is taking a caravan to the ice cream shop. As for Sheriff Downey it would be nice to see him do something other than straddle the fence. He knows warnings are not acceptable. Well, maybe not.... but he should know. |
| Tomcatt68 Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 11:24 am More from Tomcatt68 | At least Downey's guys aren't making the news all the time. Between the kid that got tasered and slapped, to the arrest in Noblesville for being drunk, to now this the Martinsville Police Department sure makes the news a lot. Sheriff Downey seems to run a tight ship and I COMMEND him for that. |
| im4iu Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 11:29 am More from im4iu | The Martinsville police department is a joke if they had to chase a suspect they would all have heart attacks, they are all out of shape. |
| Jimtinner Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 11:48 am More from Jimtinner | I just wonder what the news media would say if an accident happened with a pick-up truck loaded with kids. It is a situation where all involved have valid points. I think everyone involved were looking out for the kids, the coach to show them a good time and reward them for their hard work and the officer was looking out for their well being. The coach seems to have a great attitude about it and should be prasied for the example he is giving the children. |

| SickoftheSame Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 12:05 pm More from SickoftheSame | Tomcatt68 You are entitled to your opinion. You certainly don't pay attention to the news. Take your blinders off, there is plently going on in the County as well. |
| Pastor Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 12:23 pm More from Pastor | Shane, how ignorant. Do we always do something just because it's the way we've always done it? Hello Morgantucky!! Thank God Officer Richards interceded before a group of kids were hurt or killed. All in all, lax on Martinsville Artesian Little League Board. We have a problem when we place fun over the safety of our kids. |
| tmb Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 12:27 pm More from tmb | So will this stop football players from riding on a flatbed trailer in a parade? Or the girls golf team from riding on a fire truck? I know it was done in the 60's in the old league and I loved it! |
| Bluecollar Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 12:45 pm More from Bluecollar | I wonder if more people died in 2011 from being ejected from the bed of a pick up truck or from being struck by lightning? Maybe we should move towards a new law to ban people from being outdoors on a day where lightning is possible? |
| Tomcatt68 Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 12:47 pm More from Tomcatt68 | Sickofthesame: If I am incorrect, then I am sorry for my comments. I have never heard anything on the news, internet, or radio about any of the deputies in trouble. I have called the Sheriff's office before and they have as responded. |
