The city of Martinsville made the decision years ago to extend water service to areas outside their city limits. They have charged those who have hooked onto their system, and are collecting fees each month for service. The city's business decision they were not forced to extend service to those areas.
Who says that land they are wanting to annex can be made shovel ready as they put it? At this time Mr Holloway seem to be the only one. Engineers are not always as smart as they lead everyone to think. Engineers felt the present location of Martinsville High School was perfect. Many local Farmers at that time tried to tell them that the area was to wet. Lets see look at what the engineers created. Swimming pool on second floor. Couldn't dig a hole. No hydralic lift in auto shop couldn't dig a hole. Rain in hallways after sometimes minimal rain. Maybe the engineers who were suppose to know should have listened to the people who knew the land...

Holloway is a MHS graduate who has the best long-term interests of Martinsville at heart. I applaud him & the Mayor for having the courage to stand up to such vicious verbal attacks.
