First of all, my condolences to the families of this young girl. Many people may not like the pictures printed in the paper but I observed something that I think should be noted. I saw representatives from the Martinsville Police and Morgan County Sheriff departments showing compassion to a grief stricken individual. I hope the younger officers learn of compassion and being able to console individual/persons when called for.

Thank you for setting a good example for the younger officers to live and learn by. Again my deepest sympathy to family of the victim. They will remain in my prayers.

A little over three years ago there was a 9 year old boy that died when the truck he was riding in flipped into a creek and he was submerged for over an hour. This paper published a photo of that boy being worked on by EMTs. Although they didn't remove the picture or apologize they did publish the letter I wrote to them about how distasteful it was and how upset the family was over the picture. As outraged as many of us are I wouldn't expect an apology. I understood the point then of showing the EMTs doing their best as well as this picture showing the tough job these officers had to deal with today. A better picture could've been used though in my opinion.

A woman was murdered and you are more concerned about a picture!!!!
I think some priorities are out of whack.

The womans murder is the primary concern here Duffer, but many of us as parents are offended to see this photo put on here for all to see her personal grief. Wonderful to see the police reacting in a kind manner Shawn, but showing the police in a good light is not an excuse to invade this personal personal pain and expose it to the public.

aadept_hedonist, I think you are just mis-reading it. The story yesterday didn't have the names of the people involved, it now does. The title is just saying their identites were released.

I agree with all the comments about the poor judgment in showing the grief of a mother finding out her daughter was just murdered by her former boyfriend. Did someone say this was "random?" I think not. My heart breaks for this entire family.

Brian,
How distasteful to show the deceased ex-boyfriend in handcuffs. He hasn't even had time to grieve. Take it down now!!!!

Wow, never ceases to amaze me! It doesn't say the gunman was released!!! It says their identities were released. I was not going to comment on this article as my first thoughts are with this young ladies family.Had the RT not done a story, the same would complain otherwise.
