I'm a graduate of Martinsville High School with a 3.8/4.0GPA then went to Purdue University where I was on the Dean's List [...]

So...

I graduated with a much higher GPA than that and went to General Motors Institute. Nobody questioned your GPA or where you went to school. In fact, Jim was right. You went to the government run indoctrination institution that is Martinsville High School. I did too. I learned to think, not just regurgitate.

Jim, you are a sad little man. Keep spewing hate. It helps people know not to take anything you say seriously. Especially when you make up your own words. That's my favorite part of it all. You're a bully, not a patriot. I'm not afraid of you and I'm not going to agree with you. You can attack me all you want, but I'm not going to cower or get upset because some crazy guy in the opinion section of a tiny newspaper keeps calling me things that don't exist/he doesn't know the definition of. Find a new target. I'm immune to you.

Let's see here...

I re-read every post in this thread. It's interesting that you accused Jim of calling you names, being a bully, spewing hate, etc. In reality, you are the one doing all of those things. Follow along...

I would think that kind of tax would make the greedy and the ignorant happy.

Real patriots know that only the misinformed and idiots take for granted like roads and bridges and schools that must be paid for by government or they crumble. Change the channel. Fox News has rotted your brain and destroyed your ability to look past your own nose into a greater reality. Stop being so myopic.

Show me examples where Jim spewed any hate or called you any names ("idiot", "bully", "crazy"). Your incoherent arguments don't work, so you make personal attacks as seen in your quotes above. You accuse your opponents of doing the very things that you do. That is a typical tactic of the left. Facts don't matter. Logic is irrelevant. Call your opponents names and label their opinions as hate. The play book never changes.

Note: Sarcasm Alert

Please forgive me for posting this hateful diatribe. I don't know what came over me. My belief in personal liberty and property rights is a crime against the community.

Ron, he said my education was substandard (hey just like you just did). Called me unpatriotic and has tried to bully me into shutting up by inviting others to insult me because I don't agree with the rank and file Tea Party mentality around here. Thank you for butting in though. Can't tell you how much it means to me. You read what you wanted to read and ignored anything that didn't line up with your opinion.

C'mon people. Here you are once again attacking each other. What comes across is "your opinion doesn't have any weight because you are......(fill in the blank). Thank goodness we don't all think alike. That would make this blog either (or both)a pity party or a coffee club for the enlightened.

Is there no room for respect for divergent views? Stop the put-downs and treat each other with respect.

This seems to be an issue that has become, perhaps... more complicated than what it should be. I understand "Buffer zones" have been around and been part of cities and towns for many, many years and is nothing new in the way of how communities expand their borders and grow.

Martinsville's current buffer zone has been around for quite some time now, and with that being said there has been plenty of time for people; in the area in question, who have purchased the real estate knowing full well that the possibility of being annexed into city limits is always there. The other stipulation that has accompanied those owning said properties is that they have to conform to the City of Martinsville's building codes, zoning laws, etc... without being able to cast a vote on those who make the laws for you or that decides on annexing! I can certainly understand the frustration from those living in these areas.

I see the mayor and council's consideration for expanding their borders...at least in certain areas. The question that I would pose to them... Does it all have to be done right now? Can their be an extended time period in which portions of the buffer zone can be annexed and those living in it, can receive full services that their taxes will be paying for?

To the people living in the buffer zone area... Could you see a benefit to having your property within the city limits? You could finally vote for those who make laws and ordinances for you. What would that do for your property value, if you have acreage that could be used for industry?

I'm not saying that I have all the answers by any means. I do believe that when reasonable people make an effort to understand one another compromise can be achieved.

As usual... I provided quotes of your own words. That makes me an attacker.

He did not call you unpatriotic. He simply asked, "What do you real patriots think?" You obviously don't consider yourself a true patriot or you would have answered the question. You drew the inference yourself.

Nobody insulted you. You insulted him and me and others. He didn't invite anyone to insult you. He didn't try to bully you into shutting up either. He simply argued his position. You resorted to bullying because you can't defend your position.

The problem with folks like you is that words have meanings that don't change with the whims of your emotions.

If you would like to be taken seriously in your assertions, provide unaltered quotes (as I did) that prove where he insulted you or tried to bully you. You can't.

Show me attacks beyond what Kim has done.

Pointing out fallacies in an argument is not an attack.

Yup. I said it. How are these attacks? These are simply observations. There's no name calling. There's no personal animosity.

Kim, and people who think like she does, immediately make personal attacks. Apparently you cannot discern the difference name calling ("idiot", etc.) and observation of behavior.

Besides, you are to cowardly to identify yourself. That is not an attack. It's a description of observed behavior. Therefore, your opinion is irrelevant. When you have the courage to be identified with your opinions, your credibility will increase.

Ron,

You know I heard this argument from you before about anonymity. GET OVER IT! You identify yourself and all I see is your credibility DECREASING! Do you want some sort of award? Should you be HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM!!

Name calling, observation of behavior WHATEVER... you do the same thing spinning a subject with the Bill O'Riely playbook. It's typical left Vs. Right BS.

Sarcasm Alert

Perhaps while Kim enjoys her Kool-Aid you can tell Rush Limbaugh I said hello, as you enjoy getting high off of his pain killers?

Ooops!...uh .... this is not an attack!
