That is why we have no improvements in Martinville. No vision for the future of our town, growth or jobs. Lets keep doing things the same old way and watch the town continue to die. Same good old boys running it and mob rule.

Why does a vision for the future by necessity mean that people who are not represented by this government must sacrifice their liberty and property rights? There are ways to make Martinsville grow that do not trample on the rights and liberties of folks outside of city limits.

As I said to the mayor, if the city wants to increase its size, by up the property that it wants to annex, then no one will complain. He said, "We don't have the money to do that!" This is true. However, if I want to expand my property holdings, I have to wait until I am financially able to acquire more land. I can't just walk to my neighbor's property and tell him I am annexing his land. This is an absurd concept, yet it is precisely what state law allows city government to do. Why doesn't the city government have to play by the same rules as I do?

To the person hiding behind the goofy pseudonym, why should your interests trump mine? My guess is you live inside the current city limits and stand to gain from this. Why should you gain at my expense? Oh, I forgot, it's for the "common good", or more precisely, the collective good.

Don't tread on me!

To USCitizen: How can you call yourself a US Citizen....and make statements like these? Are you a little hard of hearing or, perhaps confused by misunderstandings that are being spread? How can you say the present city council cares little about the betterment of Martinsville? How can you say this city council has no vision for the future of our town, growth or jobs? How can you say this city council doesn't care about improvements in Martinsville? Where have you been and what have you been listening to? Sure, not everything is what I would like, but I've seen more growth, improvements, visions presented, plans and the like, than I've seen for many years. Just sayin'........
