You gotta wonder why the city ENGINEER is so involved with tax bases, financials, etc...Isn't this out of his scope as an engineer? I thought engineers applied the use of math and sciences to resolve technical/design/engineering issues! Ross needs recalibrated or fired. Tax bases and financials are not his business and only prove that he is "engineering" this annexation sham to guarantee future profits/business for himself.

There was a completely different economic climate back in the 90's than there is today, not at all fair to compare then to now. Martinsville will not attract much industry until I-69 comes through anyway, I think they can shelve this idea until the economy picks up some.

Something else to consider is if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire because of the boneheads in Washington, a very real possibility, it's another huge tax increase hanging over our heads and needs to be considered now also. $1600/year for the average family on top of cost of this fiasco locally? You can wait another year or two Mr. Mayor, for your little pie in the sky dream.

The industrial park south of White Lick creek in Mooresville is higher ground that could be built on. It seems the only person saying that ground south of Martinsville is shovel ready is Mr. Holloway. How much fill would it take to make any of the ground Mr Holloway wants to annex suitable for building? The ground is prone to flooding.
Would it not be a better idea to make sure where I 69 is going to run? You annex this area south and INDOT decides because of financial impact it is more feasible to go east then we have to annex again and what you are doing now means nothing.

This is all wonderful information, but it doesn't change the fact that a despotic government entity is appropriating property from private citizens for the "common good". Very Marxist in ideology.

As much as I don't like to say it,one reason this annexation will not help Martinsville people that live south and north of martinsville still feel there is a racial problem. Yes I have been asked if there is an issue here and I say no.
But is it still planted in peoples mind it could be a problem? I wonder if that IU professor still stirs the pot?

Yes, the 1990's were a much better economic climate.

Mooresville had a vision and is cfar more progressive than Martinsville. And yet again growth along the highway! It is not rocket science but evidently our town council cannot see down the rad any farther than their noses/

I am so sick of hearing Ross Holloway mouthing off about how annexing here would be a big boom of employment here with all the new industry it would provide!!!Does he honestly think we people are so ignorant?Where on earth did he get HIS education? Anyone could tell him that Mooresville is NOT Martinsville. It is on higher ground and is NOT located in a quicksand area! I agree with the person who said " Why doesn`t he move his business and home to Martinsville ?" It is such a shame that the City is and has been paying him all this money to stir this whole mess up in hopes he can line his own pockets!!!!
Thank God and Goodness for the Council Members who could not be brainwashed by this nonesense!!!!
Doug, you need to be our next Mayor, we need one who cares about the people.
