But I do not believe they should be on the sex offenders list. Please explain to me why a 16 yr old who fires a weapon and does harm to another is tried and convicted as an adult, but a 16 yr old that has multiple sex partners with adult men is a victim. I'm sorry but this girl is no victim. She knew exactly what she was doing, as most 16 yr olds do. Young and stupid, yes. Victim, no. I hope she is getting the therapy she needs to become a responsible citizen of our community. |
| Forthepeople Thursday, August 16, 2012: 10:28 am More from Forthepeople | Chad while I understand your point of view had it been a regular member of society this would not be an issue, teachers and child care givers fall into a separate category and are held to a different standard with the age of consent laws in order to protect young people from undue influence. There is no legal age for a teacher and a student to have sex. As long as the student is being taught by the teacher it is unethical for the teacher to have a relationship with the student. There are many issues involved here and not just sex. It is against the law for a teacher to engage in a sexual act with a minor. The teacher will be arrested, loose credentials, loose his/her teaching job, and serve time. This is to avoid abuse of a position of trust. |
