Doug I think you should reconsider your decision. You have done a good job over the years. We need someone on the council who stands by their convictions.

why would he not stand up for his convictions and finish the job he was elected to do. I certainly hope he does not run for another office, who knows if he would complete that term either. No one has taken the hear more than Mayor Deckard and Ross Holloway and they are still in the ring. Seems like Ross was hired to do a job and now people begrudge his salary. I sat in on some of those(not secret) meetings and looked to me like he earned every cent.

USCitizen, AMEN! I'm sure you ment, "No one has taken the heat more than Mayor Deckard and Ross Holloway and they are still in the ring." They have taken and are still taking verbal and slanderous inuendo abuse, some from this very paper, not just the blog. Both of them have this community's best interest at heart. I am thankful they choose to serve all of us whether it is deserved or not.

sorry tlh I did mistype and typed hear instead of heat. I agree and altho I am not a citizen of the fair city of Martinsville, it does seem those two really care about the city and have taken the higher road, remained true gentlemen and acted with great diplomacy. Qualities many seem to lack these days.
