We have been told for the last 5 months during the annexation fight that the City was in good financial shape. Now this article tells us that the water dept. owes the sewer dept. $620,000.00 that they do not have. Annexation was not about grabbing tax dollars,hmmm.

.....And the annexation plan that finally did pass requires very little in the amount of new water lines to be ran as opposed to the original annexation plan. Hmmm???

The water company HAS been losing money for years. They are $500K in debt to the sewer folks. Basically, they need to quit giving water away for next to nothing. Water rates here are 1/3 of what other cities pay. There is a reason the system is crumbling. Lack of revenue. Unfortunately, the truth is they needed to do this just to maintain the infrastructure and also to be able to afford to pay Hollaway, Umbaugh, and Ice Miller their fees for creating the annexation plan.
