Ms. Spall,

I would agree. The amount Crap they put up with astounding. Those in the private sector will become embittered at their supervisors if they don't get their raise annually or at evaluation time, then ironically cry foul when their tax dollars go up minimally to for our public servants, regardless of the waste, fraud and abuse via cronyism, poor judgement, in expensive ventures by the hundreds of thousands and millions. That these same people don't seem to notice. I have friends that are police officers and teachers and some whom haven't had a raise in 7 (seven) years! I like having police and fire protection, I respect those who educate our children, pick up our trash, etc... Their is a fair balance here, most won't say "yes raise my taxes" but I still have some hope in our fellow man that most would understand.

Everything has wet up except my pay.In fact mine has went down 20% due to the recession. The police get paid considerably more than US combat troops who are under considerably more stress and danger.

Rod1 Do the cops get free housing, free health care, 30 paid vacation days a year too? Don't get me wrong, I love and support our troops, but are you being objective?

Bob,

That's it! Let's cut the police force by 60% and perhaps crime will go down by an equivalent percentage! It's the same theory as the sun in the morning/afternoon and the moon and stars at night! No police officers...No criminals!! No laws...so No lawbreakers!!

When an intruder breaks into your house in the middle of the night, call dispatch and request that the remaining 40% of officers now employed come out and ask the perpetrator to leave you and your possession be nicely and surrender, while you grin from ear to ear!!! No need for a parole/probation department... I assume we should just open the barred doors to all felons and let them roam the streets and intermingle with society on their word of honor not to ever ever ever do it again! Why should I bother with not knowing or be it my business if a convicted sex offender is living in my neighborhood around my children, or a drug dealer? Why should anyone have to keep track of them and make sure that they are conforming to the laws of the land and not up to their past practices of being a menace to society?!

We can all just look after our own!

Let us ponder deeper into this concept. If someone steals something of yours, you didn't have it secure enough! If someone assaults you, you probably provoked them, or should have ran faster! If someone steals your identity, you shouldn't have been living on the grid! Someone shoots you, you should have had a bigger gun or a faster draw time!

No prisons/jails, no police officers, no judges... WE CAN SAVE THE TAXPAYERS A FORTUNE!!

This psychedelic, Timothy Leary, Woodstock approach you blissfully choose to see the world through never ceases to baffle me. As much as I wish we could all embrace the concept of "Peace, Love and Soul", and the occasional giggle I get from a Cheech and Chong movie clip... I think I will remain grounded on this one.

PEACE BROTHER!!

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

Purple haze all around
Don't know if I'm comin' up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me

Help me help me
Oh no no... no

Yeah
Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
You've got me blowin, blowin my mind
Is it tomorrow or just the end of time?

No, help me aw yeah! oh no no oh help me...

Most of our combat troops are reservist or national guard they dont get free housing except while over seas I think most except for officers if you look at hours worked comes out to about 5.00 hr. while here during training thier food cost are deducted from thier pay and its not wendy,s I really don't know what the police make but you can not compare the two.

I would vote to give raises, when they go back to being true Peace Officers, like they were in the past. The police across the country, in general, are being militarized which should concern us all. Any organization that trains their officers to taser 10 year olds and women that are handcuffed to a bed, needs less funding, not more.

My point is, the cops are not bad (except in rare occasions), but the policies and training they are made to follow are definitely BAD.
