Beware ‘conservative’ Dem.

I will not ask Peggy Mayfield to debate me as there is no need for it. Great depression was 30s, not 40s. Hitler was not here. He had nothing to do with OUR greatest generation that whipped Hitler. What do sidewalks have to do with State district 60? ok, your turn. |
| Sunny Tuesday, October 16, 2012: 8:52 pm More from Sunny | RatcatcherWelch's latest mailer with her wearing her nurse uniform was cute and all but the spin factory obviously worked overtime on it's development. It tells me that I could care less what group endorses who! My vote isn't based on what a group of individuals or single mouth thinks. Endorsements... Think for yourself. For one who promotes individualism I'm sure not impressed. I look at each candidate accordingly. I guess that throws out Jim Cahill (A pro-life member of the NRA) along with Welch who supports these things cause some mouth in Bloomington wrote a piece to this paper, or some group took a vote over coffee one morning. If/when the republicans take off to another state over an issue you support and/or affects you personally you'll be right behind them. You, and others like you make me sick. |
| Ratcatcher Wednesday, October 17, 2012: 8:41 am More from Ratcatcher | Since you brought up Jim Cahill I will be more than happy to go there with you. As far as I'm concerned he is what my grandpa used to call a one trick pony. I heard him speak once and the ONLY thing he talked about was unions. I never knew he was pro-life or pro-gun until I read your post. I shouldn't have to find that out on a newspaper comment section. I should've been able to hear that from the horses mouth. I am not in a union so what does Mr. Cahill have to offer me as far as representation? The only other thing I know about the man is he has a habit of putting his signs up on private property without asking permission and then having his sign flattened with a tractor by an angry landowner. Note to Jim: If there are already Mayfield and Mourdock signs there you should probably go ahead and assume the landowner is a Republican and not trespass and install your sign. I'm now counting the hours to see how long the latest repaired sign lasts. Jim must be a slow learner. I can't vote for people like that. You can if you want to. As far as endorsements I don't base my vote entirely on them but I do believe they deserve to carry weight. The Mayfield/Welch race is a perfect example. Since both state they are pro-life and pro-gun how is the average voter supposed to make a decision? Answer: Endorsements. If a candidate tells me they are pro-gun and then has a C+ rating from the NRA that tells me something. If a candidate says they are pro-life but didn't get the endorsement of Indiana Right to Life that says something too. In this case, based on endorsements and not just what the candidate says to get elected, the choice is clear: MAYFIELD |
| Sunny Friday, October 19, 2012: 10:43 am More from Sunny | Ratcatcher, Did I say I was voting for him? Just trying to understand your ironies.. You heard him speak once? Ever call him up, stop by his booth, look at his website, or info at least? Doesn't sound like it to me. Don't know about this signage on private property deal. If it is to be the truth then I will agree with you that it is wrong. My union endorses people, family and friends, along with all these advocacy groups... I could care less. I approach them all and hear what they have to say, and if they have been in office look at their record. Welch's record speaks for itself, the groups you speak of historically throw "their lot in with whomever has the "R" behind their name. They are welcome to it... Mrs. Welch doesn't have to say anything or do anything to get elected other than be herself as she has done since she has held the office. She has ran a clean campaign, bucked her own party for it, is pro-life, and pro-gun regardless of who gets what endorsement. Yeah...the choice is clear WELCH . |
| nobodyimportant Friday, October 19, 2012: 6:01 pm More from nobodyimportant | I'll approach this at face value that what is reported is true.....that is, both Mayfield and Welch are pro-life. If that is true, then The Indiana Right To Life organization missed a rare opportunity to endorse neither (no endorsement needed)or endorse both (double attagirls). I wonder if the endorsement takes in issues and positions that might be considered peripheral to the core issue of abortion. I take gradings of politicians with a grain of salt. Because so many pieces of legislation contain multiple issues that cause voting to be based on weighting of multiple issues and positions. Rarely is there a clear up or down vote taken on a single issue. If there was one single legislative reform that would help voters differentiate between incumbents, it would be passage of law that requires single-issue bills obnly (or separate votes on segments of legislation that exist in multiple issue bills. Of course, few politicians support this proposition. It is easier to hide and explain(spin) the way it is now. |
| sillyoldman Friday, October 19, 2012: 9:00 pm More from sillyoldman | Mr. Tibbs also references Advance America's non-partisan voting guide. The 2012 version was just released. Mayfield was chosen in 9 of 10 categories. Welch received zero. |
| nobodyimportant Friday, October 19, 2012: 10:09 pm More from nobodyimportant | Silloldman. I have followed Advance America for many years and agree with their positions most of the time, but non-partisan it is not. I have known Eric Miller for many years and he would proudly say that he is conservative to the core. |
| Ratcatcher Saturday, October 20, 2012: 8:52 am More from Ratcatcher | You heard him speak once? Ever call him up, stop by his booth, look at his website, or info at least? No, Sunny. I did not call him up, stop by his booth or look at his website. There was no need in my opinion because I had already made up my mind. He spent ALL his time at a candidate forum talking about unions and right to work. It was apparant he only cared about union folks and getting the dem vote. If he cared so much about life and the second amendment I figured he would've mentioned them. Maybe he does care about those issues but it is obvious he cares more about unions. I believe life (the Bible) and the second amendment (our Constitution) are much more important than unions. By Mr. Cahill's actions and focus of his one and only talking point that day I was convinced that if he were to be sent to the statehouse he would leave his Bible and Constitution at home in favor of making more room in his briefcase for union materials. I'll say it again...Cahill is a one trick pony. I am confident Rod Bray will go to the statehouse with a Bible in one back pocket and the Constitution in the other. And that is the kind of candidate I am voting for. Someone who remembers what this country was founded on. My crystal ball says Mr. Bray will have all the support he needs on election day to win the seat. |
| Ratcatcher Saturday, October 20, 2012: 11:09 am More from Ratcatcher | Well, I see 2 more of Mr. Cahill's improperly placed 4x8 signs got taken out by an agree property owner. Will he ever learn? |
| Shakika Monday, October 22, 2012: 8:37 am More from Shakika | A conservative Dem is like letting a wolf guard your henhouse. In the morning you will have no hens. |
