read more recent story comments Reader comments| Moose 65 Monday, October 8, 2012: 12:44 pm More from Moose 65 | It is time for school board changes and hopefully all voters realize this and will vote out the old and vote in new energetic persons like you. Too much has happened with this group in charge. |
| AMRFHSD Monday, October 8, 2012: 1:33 pm More from AMRFHSD | i'll vote for someone who lives in martinsville school district before i vote for someone who lives in mooresville.definately need change to our school board but this gal thinking that banning water bottles is a good step in keeping drugs out of schools shows the quality of her online education. |
| 976 Monday, October 8, 2012: 2:23 pm More from 976 | God forbid someone who lived in Martinsville until recently & graduated from Martinsville (along with her outstanding children) and who has already been working with Martinsville schools in other capacities gets your vote. The fact that she moved doesn't mean she doesn't care about Martinsville. Obviously, she does care or she would have ran for Mooresville School Board nstead, right? The water bottle deal makes perfect sense to me, and I hadn't heard about it before. That's just one tiny step that could make a significant impact. If your education is of a higher quality & you're currently living in Martinsville, are you also running for school board? If not, you may want to employ a higher quality of logic here. |

| ikb2 Monday, October 8, 2012: 3:07 pm More from ikb2 | I think some of these candidates should run for a higher office, as they are promising all the changes. I can hardly wait to see what they do if they are elected...Ha Ha Again there are 5 taxpayers sitting on this board...not just ONE..I can't wait till a criminal check is done on all of the candidates...we will then see some back away... |
| Bluecollar Monday, October 8, 2012: 4:02 pm More from Bluecollar | I'm all for drug testing... especially athletes. Would be a great start towards getting drugs out of our schools. That just might have won my vote |
| bob searcy Monday, October 8, 2012: 4:31 pm More from bob searcy | lash out at the pedo's all you want ms perfect but mr furniss is a typical human being. i would like for humans to be the roll model for our kids not an out of touch do gooder. drug testing destroys lives quite literally. kids will do hard drugs which typically are undetectable in three days instead of smoking weed which notoriously is detectable for up to 40 days. there are no easy solutions to youth drug abuse but abstinance is a dangerous fallacy perpetrated by dreamers.. |
| 976 Monday, October 8, 2012: 6:21 pm More from 976 | Bob Searcy, I think you need to back off of politics and retake a high school English class or two so you can master spelling and grammar as well as enhance your vocabulary before jumping back into commenting here about ANYTHING. Pretty please? |
| MissKitty Monday, October 8, 2012: 8:44 pm More from MissKitty | All I can say is that there are requirements for obtaining this position. From Sept. 30, 2012 Reporter Times article by Julie Crothers. "Martinsville school board elections near....Peggy Mayfield states..... Although the seats are considered “at-large,” there are still residency requirements. Candidates must reside in the district in which they are running, Mayfield said. When filing for the board, candidates were required to obtain signatures from only their specific precincts, she said. Candidates from District 1 must live in Washington Township precincts 1, 2, 5, 6 or 12. Candidates from District 3 must live in Washington Township precincts 7, 9 or 14. Candidates for District 4 must live in Washington Township precincts 8 or 13." So living in Mooresville does not constitute running for MSD school board. |

| Cowboy Monday, October 8, 2012: 11:19 pm More from Cowboy | AMRFHSD, who lives in Mooresville? No one in the Mooresville area can run for Martinsville School Board |
| Danny Stewart Tuesday, October 9, 2012: 1:44 am More from Danny Stewart | What I know is this. Martinsville school district runs all the way up 67 to Country Manor trailer court. That road is the boundary for Martinsville and Mooresville. South of the road goes to Martinsville, north of it, including the trailer park, goes to Mooresville. That part of the school district is in Clay Twp. I believe. I do know Brooklyn is Clay township. |
