When I read the headline I had hoped they were referring to Washington, DC. But then I realized that they don't even pass budgets over there.

If you can already see in October of 2012 that you are going to need a loan by the end of 2013 I don't see how that can be classified as an "EMERGENCY". Sounds like poor planning or living outside of your means to me. Now if the fire station burns down and you suddenly have to replace it and the equipment inside of it then yeah, that would be an EMERGENCY.

if something happens every year, it is NOT an emergency. Wash twsp fireman and money eaters refuse to plan and keep demanding more taxpayer money. Reminds me of the UAW. OVerpaid, underworked. They make 300 runs per year. Whoopee. City fireman do over 1800 runs and get paid $15K less.

The financial problem is that these firemen do make $15K more than city firemen, and this is the reason the city will not merge with them. This is fact, taken from the public records.
