does anyone else see the bigger issue that teaching our kids has become a political football?!

Why is Eric Bowlen, a school principal, so politically active, and frankly "greasy". This should concern parents.

What is also blatantly missing from the discussion is WHAT is being taught to the kids...that's the really scary part.

Fine, then do it. No one is stopping you from being a good teacher, but fighting the influence of the unions is something we all have a say in. Being in lockstep with the biggest contributor to lousy teachers is what most of us have a problem with anyway. I don't begrudge you earning a good living, but as a parent with 3 kids in the school district here in Martinsville the garbage my kids are telling me that is going on, especially at MHS, is just plain ridiculous.

If the goal of Mrs. Ritz is to take the system back to the good old days where horrible teachers were untouchable because of their tenure and the unions made the decisions on all the important issues then she shouldn't bother repainting her new office. I really hope that's not the case, but somehow I have a feeling her new best friends from the ISTA will be demanding she tow their line, or else.

Mr. Bowlen seems to be speaking out of both sides of his mouth; since he was also the county chair for Mike Pence's gubernatorial campaign. The same Mike Pence who is threatening to eliminate Ritz's position, with the support of the General Assembly, and name the head of the DOE himself (assuming she will resist Bennett-like reforms that actually create more bureaucracy and barriers to academic achievement). Eric, give me a break. If Indiana educators thought Bennett was callous toward public education, just wait till Pence is inaugurated.

Eric Bowlen is one of the harderst working, pro-education, for the kids, good morals, husband and dad principals my family has ever met. Say what you want, and I just did!
