what a true lady! Martinsville has lost a lot of history here that Bette knew and shared. She was a joy to be a friend to, and will be missed sitting on the front row at MHS Basketball games; and ironically, with South coming up, one of the biggest rivarlies in Indiana!

Our thoughts to the family, as now she is resting and with her Kenny!

Martinsville was lucky to have someone who knew Martinsville as only Bette did. She was a wealth of knowledge. I worked with her just a short time-3 years but we thought the same about Martinsville and loved its history. She was a delight to know and I truly respected her for the way she took hold of a subject and looked at all sides. Bette, I loved you and will miss having you in Martinsville. I always looked for your articles to know what was going on in my hometown. Rest in peace.

Tonight, our Artesian city hums a little quieter, as we say goodbye to Martinsville's own poet laureate. Traveling mercies Bette, as you go to be with God.

Bette was instrumental in the success of the Fall Foliage Festival, raising funds for community causes and a historian of our community. The red and blue flowed through her veins and rarely did she miss a game. Her books will keep her legend alive for generations to come. She loved her upbringing, her family, her job and her community. RIP Bette.
